About
Quyen A. Do got her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Family Institute at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on psychological trauma and the wellbeing of marginalized communities, examined within an intersectionality framework. As the Project Director of the PRIDE Family Studies Lab while at UTSA, Quyen also studied relationship functioning in the LGBTQAI+ communities.
Before coming to UTSA, Quyen graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, and earned her B.A. in Psychology and M.Ed. in Counselor Education. Quyen’s academic merit has been recognized with awards such as the Undergraduate Research Scholarship, Embree Presidential Scholarship, Flannagan Memorial Fellowship, and HCaP Outstanding Graduate Student Award. During her doctoral program, Quyen published her research in various peer-review journals, presented at national conferences, and received two competitive research grants for her dissertation.
In addition to research, Quyen gained clinical experiences working with adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, and has passed the National Counselor Examination in pursuit of her official licensure in counseling. Quyen is passionate about contributing her research and clinical skills to serving marginalized communities in the U.S., particularly those impacted by trauma and violence.
